The Brand Story

Hi! I’m Jennifer, a lifestyle and educational content creator based in the UK. I am a curious, introverted millennial who loves books, writing, cooking, and connecting my mind, body and soul holistically through meditating and journalling.

I started Afro Lit Stories in July 2020 because I am passionate about elevating and educating unapologetic black women through writing content on black history focusing on our contribution and impact, mental health because the mindset is essential, and lifestyle will focus on stories, experiences, and related topics.

The idea was inspired by the fact that I had always enjoyed learning about history when I studied in school and chose the subject as one of my options in high school.

Also, I watched a documentary several years ago called Dark Girls which focuses on the racism and colourism against dark-skinned black women and that fuelled my interest in learning more about our history.

This time the emphasis will focus more on a journey to heal, grow and thrive as confident, unapologetic black women. I hope to use this space exclusively for black women to take our time to heal holistically that can nurture mind, body and soul.
